ECSC Website

The new ECSC WEBSITE is now up and running!  Please click on this link for the latest information about the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus: http://www.easternconnecticutsymphonychorus.org/

Farewell to the Blog!

ECSC Family,

It has been a pleasure to serve you by trying to post helpful information on this blog.  I have loved receiving the positive feedback, and am so happy that you have enjoyed having the practice links and information in one central place!

Now that I am leaving, ECSC will be transitioning to a website!  The benefit of this is that now everyone should be able to view it.  (some people were unable to view this blog because it is a "social site.")

This blog will always remain here for those who want to use old practice links or view the picture slideshows from time to time.  Enjoy the new website!

Love,
J.G. ~ ECSC's Blog Lady

Rehearsal Start Date

Rehearsals will resume on Wednesday, January 25th.  Please come early to allow time to get your music, and bring a method of payment for your music.

Concert Reminders

I just added in new information that Sheri sent today - everything is up to date.
********************************************************
The following is standard information that Sheri usually sends out.  I have taken information from a previous concert and modified it a bit so that it is accurate for this concert:

Harkness Chapel, Connecticut College Campus - Please communicate with your section leader if you need directions

Tenors and Basses are to wear a black tux or suit with a black bow tie, white shirt, black shoes.

Colognes and Hairspray
Please refrain from wearing cologne, perfume, hairspray, etc. We have people in the Chorus who are sensitive to scents.

Diet Mindfulness
Always a fun topic – Please avoid gaseous and pungent foods such as beans, garlic and onions. The reasons should be obvious.

Parking @ Harkness
We have been given the green light to park anywhere on campus, even if there is a “No Parking” or “Reserved” sign. Parking WILL be allowed on the grass opposite the front door of the Chapel. Hurray!! Some of us will park our cars there as a guide for others to follow.

Coats, Purses, Etc.
On concert evening, all coats, purses & bags should be put in the downstairs room. Nothing should be placed on or behind the altar or on the pews in front.

Concert Formation
As many of you know, it can be a tight squeeze to get us all on the steps. Please be courteous to your choral neighbor as they may be having difficulty seeing Mark. If you are in need of a chair please contact Kathy Walburn.

Preparing Your Music
If you haven't done so already, it is now time to sing with your music in your black folders.  Please paper clip your score so that you can seamlessly turn from movement to movement. Also, please watch the soloists when they are performing and do not follow along in your score during their songs.

Please make sure your props for 12 Days of Christmas are in your folders or where you may easily access them.

“Back of the House”
Kathy Walburn is the Production Manager for this event. Kathy will work with Mark Singleton and Rich Dumas (the ECSO Personnel Manager) with regard to orchestra placement and furniture configuration. She will also be working with our recording engineer, Jim McNeish, about microphone placement, and with Bill Hathaway about the toys. If you have questions about the logistics of the stage, or need a chair, please talk to Kathy.

“Front of the House”
I will manage the front of the house, including the box office (which will be staffed and organized by Jane Falivene and Judy Grady), the Ushers, and the doors.

Toys for Tots
Bill Hathaway is managing the Toys for Tots collection. If you have any questions regarding toys, please ask Bill.

PLEASE: If you are willing to help in a certain area you must check with that coordinator first so that you can be given proper information and direction!

Bottom line………. HAVE FUN!!

Additional items we need by Dec 14th:

~ SOPRANOS AND ALTOS - a white tissue or handkerchief for movt. 11 of 12 days of Christmas.

Deck the Halls flash mob

We all love flash mobs!  This one was posted on Nov 30, 2011, so I assume it was done this year.  It is excellent!  If you can't view it below, CLICK HERE for the direct link.
